I Don’t Complain All The Time

So believe it or not, I do actually enjoy doing some of the assignments on my course. Shocking I know as I have mostly just been complaining about EVERYTHING!!

Recently we were set a task to come up with a single A3 page comic strip story line, however, there was to be no dialogue in the comic. I came up with a few ideas, first of all I thought I would do a super hero or villain origin story, but I decided that might be a bit to predictable and obvious. Next, I planned to develop a silly idea I have been doodling called ‘Friends’ about two cute little blob like people, and basically their ‘friendship’ is based on one of them killing the other in various ways. Odd? Yes. Funny? I think so!

I had another rubbish idea about a cat and a human and then another about a kid being sucked into a portal of some sort and finding himself in a strange world. In the end I decided to go with a suggestion my friend gave me which was pirates being attacked by a sea monster or Kraken.

I actually had a little play around with the portal idea in A3 but just wasn’t liking how the drawing was turning out so switched to the Kraken attack as I love pirates, the Kraken is super cool and is similar to an Octopus which are also really fascinating. (Fun Fact: Octopuses will collect crustacean shells and other objects to construct fortresses, or “gardens,” around their lairs. Other octopuses carry shells for protection).

I also had a little play around with page layouts and different styles of comic book art, but so far I happy with the direction it is heading and plan to include some dot-work in the tentacle, but here is the progress so far. Enjoy and any comments/constructive criticism would be appreciated of course.
